MYOCONTROL is ProCrea’s innovative freeform single vision lens designed to respond to the global myopia epidemic. It is the first smart SV lens engineered specifically to slow down myopia progression in children.
The design is based on the peripheral defocus principle, the most widely accepted theoretical model for controlling myopia. By introducing positive peripheral defocus through an optimized and balanced power law, MYOCONTROL compensates for the stimulus that triggers eyeball elongation. Its symmetrical and concentric power distributionensures homogeneous stimulation across the peripheral retina, where the retinal cells responsible for regulating eye growth are located. At the same time, a central zone provides the child’s full prescription, ensuring sharp, comfortable vision without adaptation issues.
MYOCONTROL has been successfully implemented worldwide as a myopia control strategy, demonstrating ease of use and high acceptance among young wearers. Preliminary clinical data indicate that wearing MYOCONTROL lenses leads to a short-term increase in choroid thickness, an early indicator of long-term efficacy in slowing myopia progression, whereas standard single vision lenses showed no statistically significant change.
